According to Dr. Hossein Salar Amoli, Deputy Science Minister for International Affairs and Director of the Center for Scientific International Cooperation at the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, a large academic delegation from Austria arrived in Tehran on Monday. The delegation is headed by Austrian President Heinz Fischer and is expected to tour the research centers in the country.
Salar Amoli added that on Wednesday, a number of MoUs for expanding cooperation among universities of Iran and Austria will be signed between Iran’s Ministry of Science and Austria’s Ministry of Science, Research and Economics.
“There is also a meeting scheduled at the Ministry of Science which will be attended by the two countries’ ministers and the heads of Iran and Austria's universities,” he said.
According to the Iranian official, the two countries will be planning cooperation in the areas of academics, student and professor exchange, as well as joint research projects.
“Delegations from Italy, Germany, France and Switzerland are the next scientific delegations to arrive in Iran with the aim to promote closer cooperation in scientific and technological spheres,” he said.
He further added that an Iranian delegation comprising of heads of Iran’s top universities will visit Russia in late October.
